ABOUT KRYSTO

Practising Yoga Since 1991
Founded Gay Men's Yoga in 2001
Australia's First Gay Men's Yoga Studio
Private Studio – Collingwood, Melbourne

My name is Krysto.   I began practising yoga in 1991 and later trained as a yoga teacher specialising in Gita/Raja Yoga. Since then I have taught continuously, sharing the wisdom and practices of authentic yoga with people from all walks of life.

In 2001,  I founded Gay Men's Yoga in Melbourne, establishing Australia's first dedicated Gay Men's Yoga studio. More than two decades later, I continue to teach from my private studio in Collingwood, Melbourne, offering personalised one-on-one sessions, small group classes and online yoga to men seeking authentic yoga in a welcoming, supportive and confidential environment.

Over the past two decades I have successfully completed several postgraduate courses. Many of the skills, knowledge and qualifications gained through these studies are reflected in the private services offered through Gay Men's Yoga.

Over the years I have explored many styles of yoga - some authentic, others quite questionable. I have learnt to keep an open mind and appreciate the many aspects of yoga, from the wisdom teachings that encompass the philosophy of yoga to its physical practices. My own teaching remains grounded in the traditional principles of Hatha Yoga and Raja Yoga, integrating movement, breath, meditation, relaxation and philosophy into a complete yoga practice.

Teaching yoga is both a joy and an honour. It is truly humbling to observe a deep shift within students, a shift which reignites them, enabling them to live their lives more fully and joyfully. My wish is to pass the gifts of yoga to others—the knowledge and the tools that can help set us free for the rest of our lives.

For more than two decades I have taught and mentored both students and yoga teachers. Serving as Senior Co-ordinator at an international yoga school, where I instructed undergraduate and postgraduate teacher training programs, has been one of the greatest rewards of my career.

Some people come with physical challenges, and together we use yoga, movement and therapy to improve mobility and wellbeing. Others are highly flexible, including ballet dancers and athletes. Many people simply seek something beyond the physical—a quieter mind, greater balance or a deeper understanding of themselves.

Although I primarily teach private one-on-one sessions, I also offer small group classes and online sessions for people across Australia and overseas.

Over the years I have taught in a wide variety of organisations throughout Australia, including yoga and fitness centres, physiotherapy clinics, schools, the Victorian State Library, St Vincent's Hospital, Turning Point, Australian Customs, the Australian Federal Police, the Australian Taxation Office, Victorian Correctional Services, the National Yoga at the Parks Program and Victorian Government departments.

Before teaching yoga full-time, I enjoyed successful careers in engineering, international menswear design and the television industry. These experiences taught me professionalism, attention to detail and a deep appreciation for privacy, qualities that continue to shape the way I teach today.

My work in the television industry made me aware of the importance of privacy and the need many people have to step away from the demands of public life. This inspired me to facilitate private yoga retreats aboard yachts in the Mediterranean and at other exclusive international locations.

Over the years I have also worked privately with CEOs, business leaders, professionals, public figures, celebrities and people in positions of influence. Many choose one-on-one sessions because they value discretion, confidentiality and the opportunity to focus on their wellbeing away from the public eye.

At Gay Men's Yoga, privacy, discretion and confidentiality are fundamental to the way I work. Whether you are a CEO, a public figure, a professional, a tradesman, retired, or simply someone seeking a private place to practise yoga, your privacy will always be respected.

Many of the men who attend Gay Men's Yoga identify as gay, while others do not. Some simply prefer learning with a male teacher. Others are married with families, while some value privacy in their personal lives for family, cultural, professional or personal reasons. Whatever your background, every client is welcomed without judgement and treated with the same care, professionalism, discretion and respect. My priority is to provide a safe, welcoming and confidential environment where you can relax, be yourself and focus entirely on your wellbeing.

The years have taught me many valuable skills, but perhaps the most important are the ability to remain calm, focused and resilient, to respect both myself and others, and to approach life with optimism, purpose and an openness to new challenges.

Whilst yoga is for everyone, Gay Men's Yoga offers a complete yoga experience in a personal and private setting. My aim is to share the insights and practical tools that will help you live more lightly, happily and purposefully.

I warmly invite you to discover the many benefits of authentic yoga and experience what working with your inner self can do for you.
